Senior attack Blake Kist registered a game-high five points on four goals and one assist to lead No. 8 Eden Prairie to an 11-5 victory over Robbinsdale Armstrong in a Minnesota State High School League game Thursday night.
Senior attack Allie LaCombe added three points on two goals and one assist to help the defending state champion Eagles (1-0) win their season opener and 11th straight game dating back to last season. Senior attack Maya Farrell and sophomore middie Giz Easton each had a goal and an assist.
Ohio State-bound senior middie Makenna Borg, freshman attack Emma Claire Fontenot and junior middie Taylor Uhl all had a goal to round out the Eden Prairie attack. Borg played just 10 minutes before leaving the game with an injured knee, but she is expected to return for the Eagles’ next game.
In the cage, freshman goalie McKenzie Johnson saved 15 shots.
In defeat, middie Bridgit Bergquist scored a team-high three goals for Robbinsdale Armstrong, which fell to 1-1.
Eden Prairie led 6-3 at halftime and always had a comfortable lead in the second half.
“We have a lot of work to do,” Eden Prairie coach Judy Baxter said. “We expected it to be a be a tough start. It showed us where our weaknesses are.”
